I assume your playing a floppy version of the game. For example in nes emulators the game is not saved on the rom file like on real thing, the emu saves the game in seperate file. But in Ccs64 the emulator saves first in the memory and when you change the game, floppy or quit the emulator, it asks you if you want save the data on floppy.
So if the emu crashes your savegame is deleted if you don't first do this. It's sometimes good to backup game with the freeze state function.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
