I don't think that's possible. Even if it were, there would still have to be emulation for those features that lack actual hardware support (i.e. SID and Sprite Collision Detection, to name but a few).

The Commodore One is near to readiness, which is a more up-to-date version of the C64, with much enhanced hardware capabilities.

: I once gamed on a C64 back in 1987-88-89. It was a complete system, plenty of games, I don't remember mush else. I'm just curious if there is a way to have a C64 emmulator the functional primary operating system? Maybe with Linux? FreeBSD? Unix? Window/DOS I seriously doubt , but I have no idea. I enjoyed C64 much, and would like to have more knowledge about them.
