Problem Loading Disk Game On X11

I'm running ccs64-1.09 on Linux, trying to load Below The Root. After enabling disk emulation, I use the menu to load the first disk image, then I type LOAD"*",8,1 just like in the old days.

But here I see "SEARCHING FOR *", and it locks up there. Strangely enough, I did get it to load once, but I don't think I did anything differently, and now I cannot repeat my success.

Anyone else had this problem?
